1980's J-10 electric bench seats?

Post by frank n texas »

Does anybody know 1st hand if any J-10's during the 1980's came with electric BENCH seat?

If so, did it have one or two electric slide assemblies under the BENCH seat?

I will have followup questions but wanted to get started here with the above questions

Thanks for any and all replies

I am not aware of any FSJ bench seats with electrics.

I am thinking about mounting my bench seat on one of the original Wagoneer electric motorized bases on the drivers side and the standard manual seat rail/slider on the passenger side....

I think the angle of the dangle is going to say NO. The bench is so wide that even with the manual method, the seat gets cocked on the rails and often latches with it not straight in the cab. We are so happy to have the bench gone in Phoebe. How will you control the release for the right side?

I do not know....Good question however...

I do have a pair of the electric powered seat bases but trying to parallel the controls and keepin them in sync would be difficult at best....

The controls operate the bases in the same way. put both bases it the forward up position, and tie the matching wires together, then into one controller on the drivers side. In theory, they should move together, in the same directions.

I think I typed that right...

You're assuming that both motors are wound exactly the same and that the rest of the circuit for each base is exactly the same...odds of that actually being the case are pretty slim. It would be very difficult to ensure they both stay in sync without some fancy electrical work.

Could probably do it with a pully/spring system and a fairly oversized DC Motor.
I know nothing about Jeeps other than I love'em.
