Remflex Gasket Issue on Doug Thorley Headers

Post by Billyj7175 »

Anybody running remflex gaskets with a set of Doug Thorley Headers?

Did you have clearance issues trying to get a socket on the spark plug?

I tried it just to see if would clear, and I can't get a socket on the plugs with no gasket...

I already had to slightly grind the top of the two end head bolts to clear the flanges...

A little disappointed...at that pricepoint I was not expecting this...

I too ground my flanges to get access to my plugs on my Doug Thorleys.

Then not long after that, Ristow posted this thread on IFSJA:

How about the #6 pipe and your heater box? It was way too close for me. I sliced a corner off the box and fiberglassed in a new section to get more clearance. I was disappointed in that. I have seen somebody post somewhere that it melted his after I fixed mine.

get plugs with the smaller 5/8 hex.

Ugh...I already hit them with the die grinder...

The motor is still on the stand...I was mocking up the headers, plug wires, and accessories prior to installing the motor.

Thanks for the heads up on the heater box...I removed mine, so I'll look "forward" to further mods...

Maybe I bought the 5/8" plugs. Not really sure, but I had no problems installing my DT headers with remflex gaskets. think I had to use a ratcheting wrench a time or two but it was aneasy install compared to other vehicles I have installed headers.
