I'm doing a suspension lift on my 84 GW. I did the back leafs springs already. Now doing the front and I noticed that the pin for the axle is not centered. Its 22 1/4" to one and 25 1/2" rothe other end. My question is, which side is suppose to be facing towards the front? And do you know if I need a new driveshaft with this suspension lift?
Thank you in advance.
Most lift manufacturers write 'front' on one side. But, another easy way to tell on FSJ's is one spring eye will be a lot larger, this side goes to the rear. The smaller eye goes on the shackle up front.
As I recall, the long side goes to the front.
EDIT: Here is the line from the skyjacker instructions:
Install the new Skyjacker front leaf springs with the long end toward the front of the vehicle.
Note: It is important to NOT tighten the leaf spring & shackle bolts at this time.

This is not true. They are not the same size.
I just installed one a couple months back. There are 2 sizes of poly bushings and steel sleeves. If you install them backwards, you will have a really tight fit on one end, if you can manage to put it in place, on the other end will be a sloppy fit. I know this because the part numbers in skyjacker's instructions are labeled backwards, and I had to tap them back out and reverse the install, then they slip right in without any slop or swearing.
