The rear bumpers are impossible to find as i am sure most of us know. Has anyone found alternative replacements to the classic step bumper? Whether it be an aftermarket product or something from another older truck. Any advice would be helpful.
In terms of brand new bumpers, this one has a utility look but it might be too wide and it would need some customizing to look right. It's not at all perfect and it's very pricey.
I have not found a stock one from another type of truck that looks good on a J truck. Personally, I dislike the way the 80s GM step-n-tow ones look on a J truck.
A handsomely fabricated C-channel or rectangular steel tube bumper that's close to the stock J truck bumper dimensions is a good alternative.
73 J4000. 360, MC 2100, T18A, D20, stock closed knuckle Dana 44 front, 60-2 rear. Warn Lock-O-Matics, Warn/Belleview electric winch, true duals with glasspacks, old-school front diff skid plate, used 265 Toyos on 16" AR wheels.
J-Trucks being narrower than Ford/GM/Dodge trucks makes them tough to find bumpers meant for other applications.
I have a BJ's Offroad Dozer bumper on my J10, and I like it. But I do sometimes wish it had a wider step on it. But I just end up stepping on the hitch mount.
