Engine Indentification

I am almost positive this is the AMC 232 inline 6. But i wanted some help to make sure. The original owner wasnt completely sure.

That's an AMC six cylinder. There is a build date code stamped into the engine block near the distributor that will tell you the displacement and compression ratio. Look on page GE-10 of the J-Series parts catalog here http://oljeep.com/edge_parts_man.html

Pre-71 AMC 199/232 is easily identified by the starter on the driver's side. Jeep never put the 199 in any of its vehicles.

Looks complete and unmolested - that's good!

Thank you! The original owner said he tried to keep everything as original as possible.
