74' Cherokee Skyjacker lift kit?

Post by volkswaben »

I'm looking at what lift kits are available for my 74' cherokee, as I will be refreshing the suspension and steering components soon. Found this kit: https://www.teamgrandwagoneer.com/skyja ... 1974-1983/ and was wondering if it would fit. Says it fits a 74', but I know they changed the rear spring layout in the rear in 76'. I would preferably like a full spring kit, and I thought that Hell Creek was the only one who offered it until I saw this. Any advice? :-?

You're probably better off getting information straight from the manufacturer (Skyjacker). They have a pretty nice website, and I imagine if you call them they can talk through any specific fitment issues with you prior to purchase. Once you know exactly what parts and SKUs you want, find your preferred reseller, or buy directly from them.

For the record, stay as far from TGW as you can get. And then go farther.

It says on Skyjacker's site that it will fit a 74' Cherokee. I will call them tomorrow to see if that is really the case, as I am skeptical. Any reason why I should steer clear of TGW? Just for future reference when buying parts.

Search around here and at IFSJA; plenty of info about TGW everywhere. Here's a pretty decent example, TGW's BBB profile is linked in the first post. There are literally hundreds of posts like that one floating around. Buyer beware.

Skyjacker shows same kit for 74 and 76 but they are different. 74 and 75 are post mount springs in the rear. I hear the rear spring bushings are different between 74 and 75. I would also give Hell Creek Suspensions a call. They don't show FSJ stuff on the web site but they do make lifts for FSJ.

Hell Creek does have FSJ stuff on their site, but their site is really bad.

But, you should be able to get an FSJN discount with them, and they make a lift specifically for 74-75 FSJ's. They will ask that you measure the size of the rear posts, as there was two sizes available.

The skyjacker front springs will work, but the rears will not.
