I have a vortec 350/4l60e/np 246 installed in my 81 wagoneer. Everything works great except that I don't like the 246. I have manual locking hubs, but with the front drive shaft constantly turning and almost never using the 4wd, (sorry, daily driver) I want to swap in a 241 so that I can lessen the wear and tear on the front axle.
As far as I can tell, I think if you've swapped in a modern GM drivetrain, it most likely came with a push button 4x4 control.
My search for information has led me to this: I understand the mechanical needs, however, I don't understand the computer needs/connections. Can you eliminate the controller for the transfer case or do you still need it? Other than the speed sender, can the wiring be simplifid or is it all still necessary?
