Thats the plan. Gonna give it a shot this weekend hopefully at some point. I have every intention of measuring it a hundred times before going for it

I’d use a dremel. Just take your time and you will be ok. Use tape to cover the area and make your marks on it. You will be able to see if you have it centered right before you cut. The tape may also help keep the paint from chipping as you cut. Good luck. Measure twice and cut once.

Finally cut it.....that was effing nerve racking. Dont think it came out bad at all but that was some tedious time consuming work. I dont think itll need anymore support, that thing is in there tighter than a clams a$$ (and those are water tight). I sliced and took the existing material and bent it inward to give it a thicker metal support than just the sleeve the stereo sits inside of. Using the original dash metal really helped with supporting it. Happy its over. Now speakers and wiring and i has tunes!

Looks great. Good idea on using the dash to support it. Question for you. Is your shifter taller than the dash?

Yes. Its a 24" stick on my T18. Ordered it from Novak and bent it myself. They come straight. 6" longer than stock. Im gonna extend the transfer case sticks about another foot eventually

It looks way taller in that pic, its just the angle. In first, third and reverse its about 4" above the dash.
