Rusty's 6" lift kit

Post by Hendo2.5 »

Does anyone have any pictures of this on their truck? Better yet with a set of 35"s? I just ordered one and kind find any clear indications of what it will accommodate. Right now my truck is stripped while I paint the frame so it's going to be a while before I can tell how it fits and I was thinking now would be the right time to add a body lift or shackle flip if needed. Thanks

What vehicle is this?
Generally speaking, a 6" lift on a Wide Track FSJ (W/T Cherokee or J-Truck) will accommodate up to 35" tires and a Narrow Track FSJ (Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, N/T Cherokee) will accommodate 33" tires.

On J-trucks, 35's don't fit in back unless you trim or roll the fenders lip. I had 34's and cut them on the front edge of the rear fenders.

On wagoneers, 35's require either a mile of lift, or a lot of trimming. Fender opens are just small.

On WT Cherokees, 35's will fit with a 6" lift without the tires getting cut as the rear axle is much narrower than a J-truck rear axle.

My J10 with a Rusty's 6" and 34's:

You can see the rear tire rubbing in this photo:

Sorry - Its a 79 10. Any suggestions on what else I should add? I would prefer not to roll the fenders

I run 35's on both my J20s with a 3" Body Lift.

did you find you had to make a lot of adjustments to accommodate the body lift? hear things like the steering shaft etc can go out of alignment

I'd stay away from body lifts. I've seen, on more than one occasion, what happens to them in an accident.

Everything is in the Kit except you have to extended the Auto-shifter rod by welding and extention. I did have to raise the rear bumpers on mine for them to look right.
