Removable seat hinges?

Post by loganobrien121 »

hey guys,

So I know that if I swap my current rear seat hinges to 1974 and later hinges, I'll be able to fold my seat and remove it on the fly, which sounds exactly like something I want to do.

Thing is, can't seem to find the hinges - does anyone even make new replacements? And are there only specific years I can use with the bench thats in the 71? I found some GW seat parts but it looks like a much different design than the seat I have.

And if any of you guys have pictures of what the hinge set up is like, that'd be super helpful too.

Are you expecting to find these online somewhere? This is 100% a junkyard item, I'd expect. Realize that parts for these cars won't be available like there are for big-three passenger cars. You will find most service and repair parts, but there will be very little aftermarket support otherwise. There just weren't that many of these cars made and fewer still on the road, and their restored value does not support the expense of making uncommon parts new. NOS, if you can find them (unlikely), or a wreck or part-out only. Try the WTB forum here for someone that's parting out a Wagoneer. Private party will be the cheapest route.

You could try car-part.com for a junkyard near you that might have the part. They don't list little parts, but you could search for a 1974 Wagoneer back seat, for example, and possibly locate a donor vehicle. There are Jeep or FSJ junkyards, such as J&W near Sacramento, Jakes in NC, or Montana Overland.

There are several full size jeep groups on FaceBook that you can join that will increase your chances of finding the hinges. Search for FSJ.
This sucks as I just tossed out a pair of them like 2 weeks ago. :(

I have a set of brackets I could sell you cheap but I think you need the seat also to make it all work.
