Close to stock cam recommendations

Post by hbabler »

I am going to have to replace the rings in my 4.2L. I am planning on installing a 4.0 head at the same time and I would like to add a higher performance cam however I do not want to have anything too radical because I drive this thing around three hundred miles a week and I would like to avoid a large drop in gas mileage. Eventually I plan on adding fuel injection so a cam that I could use for both would be great. Does anyone have a cam that they like that would work well for my situation?

I would do the Crower Baja beast or go with a 4.0L cam (you'll need an electric fuel pump) The timing chain sets are slightly different from Reix to HO. They retarded cam timing slightly to kill NOx and get rid of the need for the EGR valve. (and kill ping too)
