OK folks, I have this idea of striking a 360. No clue what I'm doing but... I have a beat up 401 that spun a couple crank bearings. I'm hoping I can use the crank and positions.
Has anyone done this and what do I need to get going if the crank can be salvaged?
This project won't begin tomorrow so let me know if I'm off on a wild goose chase here.
For the ultimate stroker 360 the trick back in the day was to offset grind the rod journals to 400 Chevy diameter and use a .060" over flat top Chev 400 piston with the pin journals opened up for the AMC Pin. If I recall correctly, this netted a comp ratio of nearly 11:1 and a displacement of 400 Inches+.
IIRC, the 401 was a stroked 360 so the end result was about the same but with mucho compression and a killer rod ratio.
