So I've got a few axles at my disposal, and of those 1 is very interesting to me.
It's a Dana 41 with flanged shafts.
I pulled it from my 48 f1 when i did ifs conversion. It's just sitting in the garage leaking all over my floor.
And I've got 2 Dana 44s(3 if you count the Chevy front) 1 is the 2 piece shafts type under my wagon currently, the other is a later nt fsj.
I wanted to do away with the 2 piece in favor of changing my brakes at will without losing an eye or arm/leg. But the later model is for 6 bolt wheels and would require gear change.
I'm curious if I can put the 44 carrier in the 41?
From what I've read up on it they share a lot of components, even the shafts (the 2 piece type)
Are interchangeable
The Dana 41 is centered with flanged shafts
The Dana 44 pass offset 2 pice shafts
Both share 5x5.5 pattern.
The 41 is o.e. ford 1948
The 44 is o.e. kaiser willys jeep 1964
Any old school know how out there?
