4.2 to 360

Yes I have 82 j10 4.2 with the t-176 trans and I was wondering what I would need to switch from the 4.2 to a 360 I can get a 79 Cherokee cheap but I wanna keep my four. Speed

Having the Cherokee beside it for parts and layout will help a lot. Things like engine mounts and the radiator core support will be different, but interchangeable.

If the Cherokee doesn't have a standard, then you'll need to figure out the spacing between the engine and transmission to get the shifters in the right spots. The 6 is a lot longer than the 8.

Yea I tried it a few years ago and ran into that spacing problem. Is there any help y'all could give my other question would I need a adapter to go from 79 Cherokee trans to my tcase

The '79 if a auto has a TH400, no easy way to adapt a round pattern NP case to it. If its a manual, it's even harder to adapt. 1980 was the change over for passenger drop to driver drop.

Your best bet would be to put ads in the wanted sections here and at ifsja for a post 80 V8 transmission, complete with bell housing and any spacers.
