An IH Travelall might bolt in. The front does.

Travelall's are far more rare than J-Trucks are, the rear won't bolt in though.

Would be better off finding another J-Truck axle, it's the only true bolt in.

But, what blew up in the axle? Was it just the spiders (cheap fix), axle shaft, or what?

It would help to put your location in your message or signature. Nobody is going to volunteer what they have unless you tell them where you are in the country.

A 5-lug J2000 axle has very little demand - a lightweight axle, old and too wide for many apps - and if you can find one it should be cheap. You may be able to find a complete but rusty truck for less than buying the axle separately.

I'd guess your friend is trying to get his parts costs back for that axle. I'd offer $150, and I think that is generous. If it's a 4.10 axle, he'd likely do better taking it apart, selling the parts separately, and scrapping the housing. JMO.

Try the WTB forums on all the FSJ and Jeeper boards, including Pirate. It would be a throwaway axle for the Pirate crowd.

If it helps, J10 and J20 axles bolt into the back. I put the full float J20 D60 under my '73 J4000.

I forgot about the gas tank divot in '80 up. 2" more RH offset to the rear axle for QT than D20 tcases which are slightly off center. '80 up are centered.

All 74-79 J-Trucks have the same offset for manual and automatics. It is offset about three inches, but it won't be any real issue.

No GM half ton axles bolt in. Front needs spring perches, but the rear is too narrow. J-Trucks use A very wide spring spacing in back. So requires a wide axle to clear.

Wagoneer axles are a lot narrower than j-truck axles. Plus the waggy will have a D27.

Is it a late '72 or was the QT swapped in? First year of production was '73 (My '73 J4000 was near the front of that line as it was built Feb '73 and the BW 1305 QT came in Full Size Jeeps in Jan '73) It was still an option with Dana 20 being the common case still.

I would look at Ford 1/2 ton axles if you're not offset.
