So i installed a low range unit on my quadratrac, along with a pto style push-pull cable. Im having some trouble getting the cable to work reliably. It either pulls the barrel of, or it pulls throgh the clamp. If anyone has any suggestions or pics of thier setup it would help out. Should i buy the linkage setup,i found one on ebay right now. Though not sure if it would be worth the trouble installing it.
Sorry but that looks more like a hold down clamp rather than a cable end part. Wonder if bicycles have a fitting that may work. Something with a hole big enough for the cable to fit only.

Just thinking. You could use a peice of angle iron with a cable sized hole on one side and bolt hole on other ,then use holder to keep cable jacket in place. Might need second bolt to hold angle iron in place.

Didn't Jeep get rid of the cable operated low range for just this reason? I think they only used it for 73/74? And then they moved to the underseat lever.
cable in 74 for sure, it is a much thicker/larger section cable than the one used by the OP.
Mine get stuck from time to time, well to be honest most of the time (I lubed it a few times), I have to find a dry/clean spot (Now I have a piece of cardboard), crawl with an open end wrench to move the cable at the fulcrum point by the TC

Well, you may have to pull the driver seat out. The lever connects up under the driver seat. You should have the hole there, but it may have a cover plate on it, which would be under the carpet. You can look up from underneath to see if its there. You should be able to find the level/linkage in the parts wanted area, or maybe a junk yard.

I did some unconventional things to get the ford bench seat into my truck, i really don't want to mess with it. Ill look later, but im pretty sure there is no hole.
I would see if I could get the flag shifter from a later Jeep. 1973 was the first year for the BW13xx Quadratrac, and the parts book says the flag shifter was introduced in 1976. Prior years should not have any holes or whatever in the floor. I recall the flag shifter was meant as a replacement for the troublesome cable. The cable setup looks like this -
Ok, so my final attempt at fixing the cable system failed, it seems the cable i have is just too weak, it will pull it into low, but won't push it back in high.
I picked up the lever shifter, have a few questions, does the knob come off? I cant seem to figure out how you would install it unless it came off, but it seems pretty tight. If anyone has a few pics of it intalled in thier rig it would be appreciated, thanks.
