Power steering pump belt alignment issue

Post by mjdriver »

Hi guys im re assembling this thing and found my power steering pulley is like a half inch forward of the crank pulley, my truck had a/c at one time, not sure if its the wrong bracket, pump, or pulley giving me the issue.

Did your truck originally have a smog pump?

The manifolds that were on it had the ports. It must have had one.

Totally wrong pulley. AMC pulleys are offset much more.

The power steering pump is a Chevy unit (If I remember correctly) so it's totally possible to have the wrong pulley.

I hate to say it, but Team Grand Wagoneer is the only place that sells the double pulley new that I found, and what I have on mine since mine was a little wobbly.. There's got to be a cross reference from GM or Ford, but I don't know it.

That pulley also only setup for one belt. There normally would be a second slot for the belt that goes to the smog pump.
