Choke Cover Screws?

Post by HOFFDADDY416 »

The Choke Cover on my Motorcraft 2150 Carb is held in place with rivets. The service manual says that in order to adjust the Choke Cover, I need to grind off the rivets and replace them with screws, but does not give any details about the required screws.
Can anyone tell me what screws I need and where I can get them?

self tapping screw of the appropriate size should do the job...

But I have never adjusted the choke... the original specs are fine, from seal level to 7000' rain, shine or freeze at 25F.... you may have another issue

The 2100 carb I have here uses 8-32 screws (that's the diameter and thread size) for the choke cover clamp. The factory manual won't tell you anything that a professional mechanic would already know or understand, or easily figure out. Screws for this should be easy to choose - measure the length you need, and buy the screws. You can use self-tapping screws, or you can run a tap into the carburetor body to make threads. Not difficult.

Also, I would remove the carburetor to do this.

Something like these - https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/124/3055 - not the screws for sheet metal here, but the others.

I think those are round headed screws in there now . Cut slots in them for screwdriver and unscrew .
