Wiper arm removal

Post by dodgerammit »

Searched and haven't come up with anything. Are there any links to removing windshield wiper arms? Need to do this in preparation of installing a new dash.

I know some makes have a release tab, some are simply press fit, etc.

Thanks!

The trick is getting the pressure off them so you can slide them off easier. the pressure of the downward push from the arm on the windshield creates a bind that holds them in place.

If you get a couple screw drivers and pry up they come right off. if your paint is nice not scratching it is the hardest part.

Yeah, I've pulled up on the arm, released the tang that holds them on, and still no luck budging them. I have removed the cowl panel cover to prevent paint damage. I'm thinking with two guys doing the windshield, I can work around the wipers. Especially since I can disconnect the secondary connection to the driver's side arm and swivel it further downward.

I've removed lots of them with little trouble. maybe yours are corroded or something.

Maybe some WD-40 soaking for awhile would help. they make a removal tool for this, I've just never needed one but maybe you do.

Had the windshield pulled and swapped in the dash over the weekend. Guy who helped me was the same guy who painted the Jeep. Has a real appreciation for classics. He had the tools to remove them. It took quite a bit of work to get them off even with the tool.
