Smog pump bracket

Post by nimslerpon »

I seem to be missing a bracket and possibly other hardware to install my smog pump. Anyone on here able to post photos or share insights as to what I’m missing?

The location shown is where the a/c compressor mount goes. Smog pump mounts below your power steering pump and is driven off the outer groves in the pumps dual groove pully.

Model, year, equipment?

Yes, agree with cheap hobby, every one of these I've seen, AC on the right above alternator and AI pump hanging from power steering.

I see. Presumably there are still mounting brackets for the smog pump no? Anyone know where I could find them and/or associated bolts/hardware. This is a 79’ J10 with the big V8

Junkyard. Find a pick-and-pull with a later Wagoneer... nearly 100% will have air conditioning, V8 and air injection. Or post in the want-to-buy forum here or at IFSJA. Or try one of the specialty yards like Jake's or Montana Overland. Lots of possible sources if you do the leg work.

Do you require the pump for inspection reasons? Unless you need it to pass inspection/emissions, there is absolutely no reason to have it. It helped the original insanely inefficient cat, but you would be far better off replacing that with a modern cat and ditching the pump if it's not required legally.

I guess we need to find a pict, the brackets are mostly straight flat iron with the right spacing holes

from a junkyard pict as most of our rigs have radiators , the pump is missing but you can see brackettry
