How to take off those 2 metal body corners by the front blinkers ?

Post by candymancan »

Mine are rusty bubbly paint and rather then do some heavy grinding sanding and bondo. Ima just take the ones from an 88 in the jy. Do you guys know what corners im talking about ? its on the body itself.. the blinkers are right next to it.. behind the metal bumper.. they are little sections that look like they can be removed.. But i dont see how ? All i see is one bolt with a metal arm attached to the bottom and one bolt which looks like its behind the grill.. but it seems held on better then just that but i see no other bolts ??

Im buying a cordless angle grinder today well going to try.. harbor freight sells them and batteries but not chargers lol so thats kimda stupid but i havent been in months so maybe they finnally have chargers.

I plan to cut off other sections like by the wheel wells and passenger side dog leg and stuff since i have marious spots of bubbling paint and rust in these areas.. Itd be easier to just cut out clean sections.. cut ny bad ones out and tack weld and fill and paint then attempt to fix the rust itself

They are spot welded in place. I would remove the fenders and drill out the spot welds. Then do same on JY fenders and then weld back on.

Yeah, they are part of the fender.

If you have no qualms about destroying the fenders you can use your new tool to slice off the corner above the joint and unbolt it from the valence. Cut yours off below the joint.

Grind the welds on the fender side of the new piece and the lower side or yours.

Drill some holes in the flange of the new piece for plug welds or maybe just bolt them together with sealant between them after proper paint.
