Belt Routing Questions

Got a 5.9 V8 that *in theory* has AC but it doesn't work (maybe because of the missing belt). The rig should have two belts, but as long as I've had it it's only had the one, because the alternator pulley was a single track instead of a double. Bought a new pulley and both belts, but I'm having a hard time figuring out the routing that the second belt should take.

Found this image but it looks to me like there are three belts on there? So now I'm really confused...

The double belts take the same route, side by side.

Double belt is common on the A/C compressor to resist belt slippage.

Typical v-belts don't have enough surface area to hold the torque load that comes from the A/C clutch kicking on, so the solution was to use two belts. This is the reason modern cars have serpentine belts; they have a ton more surface area to handle the higher loads of modern accessories.

I posted this in your other thread but as a reminder:

You need to pay attention to what you are buying with the dual AC/Alternator belts.
