Intermittent wiper help

Post by Milktruck »

For some reason, searching on the board is not working for me - so apologies for the post if this has been covered repeatedly.

I’ve got wipers that work only on HIGH setting. Low and delayed do not work. Wipers do not park when switched off. I’ve replaced the column stalk (Switch) with new. I’ve started going through the column and have a wiper motor ordered just in case. I’ve pulled the “Intermittent Wiper GOVERNOR” P/N 5600 0428, but cannot find a replacement. Seems to be NLA. Any thoughts? Anyone have one?

The fact that it doesn't work on low and doesn't park makes me think it's the slip ring in the motor, not the delay box.

Can't you plug the harness directly into the switch to bypass the delay box?

I vote 99.9% it’s module.
They’re cheap & easy to find.

Many thanks to BabyWag and others. I ordered a used module on ebay for $40 and the wipers work in all modes. Finally!

Reviving this thread as I am having the same issue, where is the module located in the GW? I am having a hard time finding it under the drivers side dash. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's the big square box with velcro. By big, maybe 3 inches by 3 inches. Easiest if you remove the bottom section of the dash below the steering wheel, then look back underneath. Wire harness clip going into it is pretty big (more than 2 wires). You'll know it when you see it.

Keep in mind that you can be missing one - connectors going into that box can actually plug into each other, so wipers would work on high only - kind of bypass mode.
