Re: Stock leaf springs source

Removing one or two shouldn't be a big deal. On the 74 and up the J10 had same spring packs as the Wags & Cherks. Since the Gladiators were spring over and Wags spring under, I am not sure they are same. We have friends (a couple) that put BDS lift on their 81 Cherk WT. It was her Cherk and DD. It was too stiff so they broke the spring packs down and shortened all the secondaries with good results on the ride.

Thats kinda what i was thinking. Maybe if i move the spring mounts for the J20 front axle i plan to use and just go SUA with one or two less leafs it might actually ride better. Plus my tires are horrible so that probably contributes as well. 35x12.5 Federal Couragia MTs at the moment but want to eventually run 34x9.5s

For stock, more leaves were softer riding. The stiffest are the 2 leaf packs. You could try removing one of the longer leaves.

Possibly the one that double wraps the main eye? My thoughts are that is the one thats the culprit.

The softer riding front springs had 7 leaves, the stiffer ones had either 2 or 4 leaves. You could experiment with taking one of the longer springs out, and see how it rides. The longer the spring is that get removed, the more of an effect it will have on the ride.
