Greetings gentlemen, I just picked up a 86 GW with a near perfect body(0 rot) but plenty of other issues. One being a rusted out y-pipe. I was wondering if anyone has done a dual exhaust in place of the Y pipe, and what parts they used for the drop down pipes from the manifolds. After that I can cobble up the rest , unless theres a good not too expensive pre-bent system out there.BTW I wont be replacing the cat. Thanks for any input into this...we'll discuss my many other issues later-lol -George
Going true dual is tough on an FSJ. You can go side pipes, but without a cross over you will lose some torque. Its a bit easier on an 80's as they are driver drop, so you have more space on the passenger side, and then you can get an x-pipe in there.
Having a y-pipe made is not much if you have an exhaust shop near you.
