Front axle Cherokee chief

Somebody knows this part?


Its on my front axle shaft have one of those on either side but the where not in the same place.
I bought a kit here in sweden with a new needle bearing and 2 seals no questions about that but the plastic ring whats the purpose of that?
And where to put it?

I drive a 1980 Cherokee chief as daily driver not the most simple car for spare parts to drive here but not everybody can drive a volvo

I believe the seal goes on the axle stub shaft that slides into the spindle. This seal helps keep dirt out of the inner spindle needle bearings. It will seal between the inside of the stub shaft and the back/inner part of the spindle. If its what I think it is...

That is the first piece that goes back on the axle stub shaft.

In particular, page 2F-11 - Axle Shaft Seal Replacement. It speaks of a bronze washer. Been a while since I have seen a bronze one because replacements are made of plastic/teflon material.

Yep. First on the stub shaft. Taper facing inwards.
