Wiper/Cruise issues

Post by Milktruck »

On my short list of little problems I have:

Fix wiper speed issue (only works in highest speed - wont park)
Get cruise control working again. Worked over the summer, just seemed to quit.

Since both of these are controlled from the same stalk, I was wondering if anyone has experience with this being an issue on the column rather than separate issues? It just dawned on me that there is a possibility that the issues are related.

A new selector switch on my 89 solved my intermittent wipers not working, and was able to trace my cruise control issue to my control module.

Thanks for confirmation. Think I’ll start there.

Does the cruise on the later wags have a vacuum component? I've had that problem a couple times on my transplanted XJ cruise setup. Broken vacuum hoses, cracked hoses, etc.

Update:

I replaced the stalk and got no relief (other than lighter wallet).

Solution:

Cruise control - found the 4A inline fuse that is in the dash and replaced. Fixed for $2

Windshield wipers - replaced intermittent wiper module with one bought on eBay. Fixed for $24
