The PO of my J20 installed Edelbrock chrome valve covers w/4 breather holes. Stock 360 valve covers has no breathers! I do have PCV and air cleaner hose to intake stack hooked up. Do I really need those extra holes in the valve covers, just create more oil film on engine IMO??? THX for any insights!!

Nope, you don't need them and you don't want them. The crankcase breathes through the cap on the fill tube. I've never been able to shrink myself down and hangout inside a valve cover while running the engine on the highway, but I've heard they pretty much fill up with oil at sustained high RPMs, which is why the AMC engineers didn't put breathers on the valve covers to begin with.
