1977 Jeep J10 Valve Cover Gaskets

Post by falconte43 »

Hey guys,

Do you have any information about where I can go to find some replacement valve cover gaskets, which ones are preferred, and any tips on installation?

Thanks!

Summit Racing has these, as well as your local auto parts stores.

Some people prefer cork, some prefer rubber.

Felpro is the usual recommendation. RockAuto has Felpro in both rubber (OEM style) and cork/composition ("improved" design).

Make sure both surfaces are clean, and straighten any distortion in the valve cover around the bolt head. Don't overtighten - the TSM has a spec, likely about 40 INCH-lbs. Lots of differing opinions on sealant.

Rubber is my choice, it is a big thicker and allow for uneveness, I still put a small bead of RTV... around the bolt holes...
