A smaller carb is an entirely different subject than restricting the air to the carb.
Most factory air cleaner set ups on stock engines are sufficient. if you want proof go to the track and make a pass, then turn your air cleaner lid over and make another pass. see if NRHA rules makes you install a roll bar after the 2nd pass.
We're splitting hairs here. run whatever air cleaner set up makes you feel good but don't expect a discernable difference.
