Working with my buddy on his Cherokee Chief... He broke the following part and we're not sure what it's called or what it does. It's the piece that has the yellow zip tie on it's hose, just behind the oil filler neck:

CTO (coolant temperature override), aka thermal vacuum switch. In that location, typically controls switching between manifold and ported vacuum as engine temp comes up.
Year? Look at vacuum diagram and TSM for that year.

It's not a '74. That's a Duraspark module on the fender, and the first year for Duraspark is 1975. '74 would have points ignition. Carb and other stuff looks a few years later, like 1978ish.
The owner can buy the TSM on CD-ROM for his year at RockAuto for less than $25. IMO you're flogging yourself without the proper TSM, esp at the price of these CDs.
