Finding replacement switches

Post by memo43 »

As the title says I'm trying to locate or source replacement switches for my AC, now that I have just about every leak taken care of and the temps in the mid to high 90's. My A.C. switch gave in to the ghost.
It started from a little smoke to the porcelien part getting warm, so to prevent joining the club I disconnected everything.
I'll pull the ac system down an trace the wires back to the motor an replace them if need be,
(Also looking for the e drive indicator switch an connector)
As always thanks for any and all help

Exactly what switch are you looking for?? There are several related to the A/C system.

The fan switch is just a potentiometer with an off position and a full on (zero resistance) position. You could probably find one looking at Mouser or Digikey. You will loose the pre-cool feature though. The temperature switch is another animal entirely. There is some sort of thermister in their, but I don't know specifics.

2007 Mercury Milan, 2.3L, 5-speed, now my DD. 29 mpg average.

I got my switches at NAPA. TEM 207500 for the temperature control, I don't have the part number for the fan switch. You need one that has resistor coils built into it (similar to a 64-66 Mustang) or the variable resistor that came stock. Mine is the coil style, so 3 speeds. It works fine.
Edit: Because the coils get hot, be sure to keep wires clear of the coils.
