Dana Hub Gear Spacer

Post by sevenhollows »

Trying to get the beast (89 mostly stock GW) back on the road and my mechanic says we need something like this for the front axle:

According to quad4x4.com it is a Hub Gear Spacer for late model GWs. However, we are having trouble finding anywhere to buy one.

TGW and BJs don't seem to have it and wondering if anyone knows a better part number to look for or a compatible alternative.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

That goes between the drive flange and outer wheel bearing, correct? Sometimes there is a cup and spring that goes in place of that. I think BJ's sells that part.

I've had many D44s apart and have no idea what that part is. If your 89 has a 229 transfercase (which it should for an 89 Grand Wag), your front hubs should have these parts:
Image
79 J-10 (Honcho Mucho) KE0LSU
304/Performance Fuel Injection TBI/MTA1/SP2P/Magnum rockers
T18/D20/D44s&4.10s/33" Mud Claws
Grizzly Locker Rear
4" front spring drop, 5" rear shackle flip
Chevy style HEI (ECM controlled)
Dolphin "Shark" gauges in a fancy homemade oak bezel
3/4 resto, rotting faster than I've been fixing it.

Thunder and Redone - thanks! I will pass this along. I think it must be the spring/cup assembly. thanks :)

I can verify that my 89 Wagoneer front hub does not have the spring cup or Spring. Instead, directly behind the drive gear is a metal ring that is about 2 or 2.5 inch thick.
