Spark seems to have died to my distributor so I tested by pulling off coil wire and touching to ground and had wife crank over while I looked for spark.,none.
So I pulled the coil and ignition module from my parts rig to put into my driver and test each component to see if it will solve the issue. BUT they seem to be different. The coil is about 1/2" longer and the module is different too. Says hi performance on the side. Also PO had the coil wires fastened by electrical clamps to the top modules on the coil with the cap on the other side seemingly for uselessness because it's not hooked to anything.
I don't know much here. Just found out what an ignition modules is yesterday.
My concern is installing this coil and ignition module and frying something because it's different and I don't know any better. I thought I better stop at this point and ask for help if it's compatible to install this coil and module.
My hope is to install it and isolate what the problem is so I can get on the road again, and I think upgrade is in order if I can get some advice what an upgrade is that would be compatible with future fuel injection project soon as I figure out what best route for fuel injection is too.
Here's side by side. Original on on left questionable one on right. Also what's the little module bolted onto the side of the coil for?
Here's the one from parts jeep
The one currently mounted
And the contacts on the plugs on the aftermarket one just for fun. The tabs broke off with .0234 lbs of pressure.
Thanks in advance!
