Ok everyone I know there’s a trick to this, I just don’t know it. How does the gear shift indicator come out to be replaced? I removed the cover via 2 screws, removed the retaining clip that is clearly holding a carrier in place with the bottom half of my old indicator. For the life of me I can’t see how the new one is going in without getting this further disassembled. Anybody care to walk me through it?
After the retaining clip is removed grab the carrier with a pair of needle nose then have someone tilt the wheel all the way down holding it past the last click. You then can pull the carrier out of the groove to remove the broken piece. Install in reverse
So I was doing this by myself and got to the carrier and it slipped. Down into the column cover it went! Is there a way to get the column sleeve off to retrieve it or should I just try to find a replacement?
Well I wouldnt want the carrier just rolling around in my column thats just an excuse for it to get lodged somewhere and cause problems. It would take quite abit of disassembly to get to where the carrier tell to though.
