Cheap high quality fuel hose--anyone remember?

Post by rocklaurence »

OK, on a youtube video someone stated that NAPA or one of the other Name Brand parts manufatures had developed a Eco-fuel compatable hose that has Fiber re-enforced rubber outside with PVC [or something simular] liner that is high quality and affordable. I cant seem to find the reference anywhere and cant remember the name. I can find Earl's, Super Blue and many other performance fuel lines but its all Crazy Expensive. Does any of You-n's know what I'm talking about and can provide the name? The cheap fuel hose from AutoPart box store lasts about a year.
Thanks guys

Don't know specifically, but you could look at the Gates site for the fleet products (IIRC Green Stripe is one of their brands).

Yes, Gates seems to be the correct one. The one I found was Push-Lock and its almost twice as expensive as the Gates. I did look up Gates but didnt see if a specific fitting was needed. Does Gates require a special fitting?

Gates web page says it's only for low pressure (ie carbureted) applications, so I would presume not.

Are you looking for carb or FI hose, e85 was a problem (actually saw a few cars with old style hoses melted into a glob) but most low end hose these days can deal with it, summit has a 25ft roll for $20 bucks, low pressure carb style

Looking for Carb stuff. So, I presume that a barbed fitting with hose clamp would work.? The stuff I have been using last about a year.

Hose that isn't ethanol rated will have the moisture pulled out of it and it will crack. Most EFI hose is rated to be safe with ethanol. Its what I have been using on my Jeeps since CA switched to having E10 fuel.

The hose litterally becomes brittle, cracks and chunks apart at the fittings. Since I'm always fussing with stuff, changing things etc I have to replace the fuel lines all the time, If I didnt mess with it, Im sure it would last longer.
